About-us ...

As an original part of a large farmstead, after the demolition of the old building and the division of the property, our plot was mainly used as a hay meadow and paddock for decades. In 2007 we had this spacious timber-frame prefabricated house built as a single-family home with a ground-level granny flat.

It is located in the middle of the old settlement, in a quiet, paved cul-de-sac and borders on a hay meadow at the back.

In the early spring of 2021, we decided to retrofit a photovoltaic system. Since then we have been producing "clean" electricity and hope to make a small contribution to averting climate change with solar-assisted hot water preparation and CO2-neutral pellet heating.

We, your hosts Astrid (1963) and Frank (1964) were born in Hamburg and have been married since 1985.

After our children have left their "nest", we live with our mixed breed dog "Candy" and some cats in the main apartment of the house. This extends over the entire roof and half of the ground floor.

The second half of the ground floor (granny flat) is "elkes-feriendomizil-sh" and is waiting for your visit.

We look forward to you!

... Schretstaken,

In a village and yet conveniently located, near the A24 motorway, Talkau junction. You can reach downtown Hamburg in around 40 minutes by car or in around 50 minutes non-stop by bus from Talkau, which runs every hour. Another way to get to the metropolis is to take the regional public transport train in Schwarzenbek.

Despite the still underdeveloped infrastructure in our area, you don't have to do without anything! You can reach our small towns in just 10 minutes by carSchwarzenbek,MoellnandTrittau, all within a radius of about 12 kilometers. Here you will find the big discounters as well as supermarkets, restaurants, clubs, gas stations, doctors and everything else you need to survive.

Schretstaken(Area: 8.47 km2, height: 51 m above sea level) was founded in 1407 and belonged to the Hanseatic City of Lübeck from 1452 as an exclave until 1937. Schretstaken became part of the Duchy of Lauenburg in 1937 as a result of the Greater Hamburg Act. On April 1, 1939, the community was re-formed through the merger of Groß Schretstaken and Klein Schretstaken.

From 1936 until his death in 1980, the painter and graphic artist A. Paul Weber lived in Schretstaken.

With currently almost 500 inhabitants, Schretstaken is one of the few communities that have been able to retain their village charm to this day. It is still characterized by active agriculture - farming and animal husbandry are the livelihoods of various smallholders. This is also reflected in the landscape of the area: small groves alternate with hay meadows, corn, grain and rapeseed fields, which shine in bright yellow in early summer.

However, we do not want to leave the downsides unmentioned: Especially in early spring and after the harvest, there can be increased odor nuisance due to the unnecessary liquid manure in the fields. The reason for this can be found in all of our consumer behavior with regard to meat consumption, the resulting factory farming and the unreasonableness and resistance to criticism of many farmers.

We hope that everyone will rethink soon, that emission controls in rural areas will be increased and that the liquid manure regulation will be drastically tightened and completely monitored!

... and the surrounding area

In the land between the coasts, the north is excitingly different: Here you don't drive cutters, but canoes; here you don't walk through the mudflats, but through the forest; here the wind does not blow over the sea, but over wild and romantic lakes.

Rustic courtyard cafés and historic towns invite you to linger, nature parks and protected areas with lookout towers want to be explored.

get inspired.
